What is masterplanning?

Masterplanning is a dynamic planning phase that provides a conceptual layout to guide future development and growth. 

In this phase, we focus on making connections between buildings, social settings and their surrounding environment. 

We also study the masses, circulation, streets and parking that affect a specific site or area.  Masterplans play an important role in determing the environment of a site, village, town or city.

Site analysis is another part of the preliminary phase of any project to study all forces and boundaries of the project's site.  If a site hasn't been chosen, we will work with you to pick the best location for your project.  Site analysis includes:

Values of a Masterplan

In a masterplan, we develop the phasing and schedule of a project based on its priorities.  We will also define the public, private and semiprivate spaces and amenities throughout the site. 

We create masterplans and use them to determine the types of uses in an area and their relationships to each other.    Masterplanning helps us establish and develop different options for land use. 

At Alfandre Architecture, we work with the local communities to plan development in an area to protect valued resources.  By doing so, wetlands, agricultural lands, woods and other important environmental areas can be preserved.
