Alfandre Architecture, located in New Paltz, NY, designs high-performance, low-energy, and healthy buildings that combine beauty, building science, and thoughtful detailing. Our LEED Platinum, Net Zero Energy office in New Paltz reflects our commitment to sustainable design, collaboration, and continued learning.

We are seeking an experienced Drafter/Designer with a Bachelor's degree in Architecture and relevant internship or professional experience. You will support the architects with product and code research, redlines, 3D modeling, field measurements, and existing-condition and construction documentation.

This role is ideal for a technically skilled designer who wants to contribute across project phases and grow with the firm.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work directly for architects in a supporting role. Help translate creative concepts into precise, buildable plans that meet both design intent and technical requirements.
  • Responsible for red-lining, showing changes, comments, and/or annotations.
  • Work closely with leadership, the team, and clients throughout the design, documentation, and construction process.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with consultants, contractors, and fabricators, when necessary.
  • Set up meetings and issue drawings.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture required.
  • 2-4 years experience as a Drafter/Designer.
  • Strong Revit skills required; AutoCAD experience is a plus.
  • Knowledge of building codes and design assemblies required.
  • Experience with sustainable, high-performance, or low-energy design preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
  • Proactive, resourceful, self-motivated, highly organized, detail-oriented, and self-disciplined.

Assistant Construction Manager

We are seeking an experienced Assistant Construction Manager to oversee the day-to-day coordination of residential, commercial, and industrial projects, including scheduling, budgeting, procurement, quality, and safety. The role works closely with the Alfandre Architecture team throughout all phases of construction, from planning through completion.

Qualifications

  • 5–10 years of experience in general construction management, with experience managing multiple trades and construction projects.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience managing construction projects from planning through completion, including scheduling, budgeting, procurement, quality control, and safety.
  • Ability to read, interpret, organize, and coordinate architectural and construction drawings, plans, and specifications.
  • Strong knowledge of construction processes, methods, building products, and construction details.
  • Strong knowledge of local/state building codes, permitting requirements, ADA requirements, and construction regulations.
  • Experience with sustainable, high-performance, or low-energy construction preferred.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA construction and general safety requirements; certifications preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and the ability to travel daily to multiple construction sites and obtain materials as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in project planning and manage construction through completion, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to established quality standards.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, coordinate work sequencing, and monitor daily progress and performance.
  • Coordinate engineers, consultants, clients, subcontractors, and construction crews throughout all phases of construction.
  • Monitor project budgets, costs, invoices, materials, and inventory; procure tools, materials, and equipment and maintain relationships with qualified subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Review contracts, specifications, drawings, and change orders; assist with contract administration, subcontractor negotiations, and required documentation.
  • Ensure all required permits, licenses, applications, and COIs are obtained before site work begins.
  • Identify and resolve scheduling, technical, and site issues promptly, escalating significant concerns to project leadership.
  • Actively participate in project, staff, and quality assurance meetings, including coordination with the Alfandre Architecture team.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation and reports and oversee final inspections and project closeout.
  • Must be able to travel to/from job sites with your own reliable transportation.

  • Strong Microsoft Office Suite skills, with an emphasis on Excel, BlueBeam, and experience with construction management software.
