We are excited to show the progress for a new classroom building we helped design with Friends of Guirgho. This educational foundation is partnering with rural schools in the small country, Burkina Faso, located in Western Africa, which has one of the lowest literacy rates in the world.
In Guirgho, a village in the center of Burkina Faso, the teachers teach up to 80 children in one classroom with extremely limited resources and most students will never use a computer throughout their time in school. Friends of Guirgho believes that if the students have more access to technology, they will learn more and will be able to meet the challenges facing their families, community and the world.
We designed a facility with a computer room, classrooms and rain water collection. The roof is angled towards the south for future solar panels. Not only would this building be used by teachers and students, but during non-school hours, adult members of the village of Guirgho will have access to the facility to advance their own education.
